BROWARD LOG CABIN REPUBLICANS CONDEMN NAACP'S TRAVEL ADVISORY

Gay Republicans call NAACP's bluff on politically motivated Florida travel advisory.

The NAACP released a travel advisory warning that “Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals." “The Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County, an LGBTQ Republican organization, reject this premise stating that "Florida is a bastion of freedom and a great place to live, work, and play regardless of race or sexual orientation." Jason Loring, President of The Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County, stated, “Florida is not unsafe for black people unless they are threatening others with death or serious bodily harm, as in crimes of rape, robbery, arson, kidnapping, or murder." He continues, “Florida was the first state to introduce the Stand Your Ground Law in 2005. In order for the victim to fall under the Stand Your Ground Law, it must be considered self-defense and the victim is required to attempt to retreat first.” Jason goes on to comment that, “Florida is not unsafe for the LGBTQ community, it is only unsafe for pedophiles who want to push their own agenda onto other people’s children. Our Governor Ron DeSantis forced schools and libraries to remove books such as It's Perfectly Normal, which had detailed pornographic images in them. “It is not perfectly normal to show children images of young boys giving other young boys blow jobs. Back in my day that was called pedophilia”. Alex Elliott, Vice President of the Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County, stated “In September 2020, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis supported legislation that included new criminal offenses and increased penalties for individuals who are participants in violent or disorderly assemblies, and protects the communities’ law enforcement officers while simultaneously guarding the Constitutionally protected First Amendment right to peaceably assemble.” He continues, “If you break the law, you should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. Don’t break the law and you will not have to worry about the consequences.” Don Hosea, Treasurer of The Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County, states “Florida is not unsafe for the LGBTQ Community, it is only unsafe for pedophiles or someone that is attempting to indoctrinate or mutilate undeveloped children.” In regards to the mistitled “Don’t Say Gay Bill”, Hosea retorts, “Please call the bill what it is, the parental rights bill. As a father myself and the Treasurer of the Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County I was forced to read and reread Bill 1557 over and over again, in order to be able to understand it enough to answer questions for my gay and straight ally members. I didn’t want to go into a conversation blind and unprepared.” Don and his son are straight allies of The Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County who support the LGBTQ Republican clubs efforts. “Bill-1557, also known as the parental rights bill, limits teachers and school administrators from indoctrinating children, giving parents back control over what their kids are taught in class,” explains Sue Courtade, Secretary of The Log Cabin Republicans of Broward County. "As a mother, it should be a parent's job to tell their children about sexuality, not a stranger’s job.” Gender expression is a societal construct. Some boys play with dolls and some girls like sports; it doesn't make them gay or trans. Society needs to allow kids to be kids and play dress up or play in whatever manner they wish, without making it a political issue. Gender affirming care, puberty blockers & trans surgeries, alter the kids future sexual enjoyment permanently. Kids are not equipped to understand the ramifications of this, but parents & other adults certainly are. If someone wants to do this they should wait until they are an adult.
